BEST FACIAL MASK EVER: Save or Splurge?

Hola, pretty ladies!

As you can see on the title: BEST FACIAL MASK EVER: Save or Splurge?

I want to highlight the fact that not every ridiculously expensive skincare has high quality. It is true that there are many expensive products that truly work, but it is also true that some cheap products can perform as well as the expensive ones.

My best facial mask on the 'splurge' side is the Paula's Choice Skin Balancing Oil Absorbing Mask.

I bought it from its website for AUD30 (around Rp 300.000,00). I am fully aware that for some people the price might not fall into the 'splurge' category, but I am also aware that many of this blog's readers are still in high school. We don't want high schoolers to spend too much money on skincare that they might not urgently need now, right? ;)

This facial mask is targeted to people with combination skin because it contains Kaolin, which acts as oil absorbant. However, I think if you apply it lightly it can be good for your blackheads/whiteheads because it makes them easier to be extracted.

The ingredients of this mask are: (I got it from http://www.paulaschoice.com.au/shop/skin-care-categories/masks/_/Skin-Balancing-Oil-Absorbing-Mask/)

Water, Kaolin (clay/absorbent), Bentonite (white clay/absorbent), Glycerin (skin-repairing ingredient), Salix Alba (Willow Bark) Extract (anti-inflammatory), Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice Powder (water-binding/soothing agent), Sea Whip Extract (anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial agent), Colloidal Oatmeal, Bisabolol (anti-irritants), Ascorbyl Palmitate (vitamin C/antioxidant), Tocopheryl Acetate (vitamin E/antioxidant), Phospholipids (skin-repairing ingredient), Panthenol (skin-conditioning agent), Retinyl Palmitate (vitamin A/antioxidant), Stearic Acid, Steareth-2 (thickeners), Caprylyl Glycol (preservative), Butylene Glycol (slip agent), Ethylhexylglycerin, Hexylene Glycol (preservatives), Disodium EDTA (chelating agent), Phenoxyethanol (preservative).

All the good stuffs at the top of the list, how lovely. This is the sign that you buy the right product. They don't fool you because the main ingredients are actually a lot in the product.

The texture of this mask is very thick, which I personally really like.

And it dries out in about 15 minutes. The direction says to apply a generous layer over you face and leave it for 10-15 minutes. After that you should rinse the mask with water and then you can follow with your regular moisturiser.

I usually use it once every two weeks because I don't think I need too much of facial oil absorption. But Paula said you can use it as often as you want.

Overall this is an excellent product. My skin feels soooo smooth and glowy every time I use this mask. It is fragrance-free too! Five-star product, indeed.

NOW moving on to the 'save' category.

You might not expect that this local product can be as good as the product above, but let me tell you my experience: it is. It truly is as good as Paula's Choice Mask.

It is from Sariayu Martha Tilaar (sorry for the blurry image guys I'll change it later)

I did not take a picture of the product inside because I don't wanna use it now. So I'll just describe what it looks like.

Inside this plastic is powder mask. You have to mix it with 3 tablespoon of water and stir it well to make it a paste. You can see it from the back of the packaging.

If we take a closer look to its ingredients, we can be pretty much satisfied too because all the good stuffs are at the top of the list so.. WORTH IT. I bought it for I can't remember how much but I am guessing it's not even Rp 20.000,00. So cheap and so good, what a catch! :D (It is available in Sariayu store or whichever counter they have in department stores).

You can see that they also write down the expiry date, which is very helpful because we can forget that easily and you definitely won't want to harm your skin by using expired product.

All in all, this mask is a reaaallly good mask, especially if you're looking for an affordable-but-works product.

I hope this review helps you guys! See you on the next post! Thank you for reading :D
